LEGALFLY wins the ACA Innovation Insurance Award 2024
We were delighted to receive the ACA Innovation Award at this year’s Luxembourg event on 5 November.
This recognition from the Association of Luxembourg Insurers and Reinsurers (ACA) reinforces our focus on secure, smart compliance. Our platform uses data anonymisation to meet regulatory demands while safeguarding our clients’ data.
During the event, six startups selected from 66 applicants, including Legalfly, had the chance to collaborate with ACA members to design solutions for digitising processes or improving customer relations, “two critical subjects,” according to ACA deputy CEO Valérie Tollet. Each team tailored their approach to the sector’s needs, presenting their solutions to a jury of experts and an audience of professionals.
“We estimated during the preparation of this final that we could have saved the Foyer Group 3,000 hours of work,” our CEO Ruben Miessen said during the presentation. Marc Lauer, vice-chairman of Foyer’s board of directors, took it well, along with Marie-Hélène Massard, deputy CEO of Foyer. “We were the legacy actors that the startups wanted to replace,” he joked on stage at the end of the event. “But we’re still here.”
As the winning startup, we will now have the opportunity to collaborate with jury member companies to develop a Proof of Concept (PoC), turning our compliance solution into a tangible asset for the insurance sector.
Legalfly’s powerful intelligent legal assistant simplifies compliance with GDPR, Dora, and SFDR, freeing compliance teams to focus on more strategic work. By anonymising sensitive data, it meets both local and EU standards. This approach has been very useful for the Luxembourg insurance sector, as well as legal teams, enterprises and financial organisations further afield.
Our journey began with quite a pivot. After meeting while working at Tinder, our founders—Ruben Miessen, Kasper Verbeeck, Dennis Montégnies, and Gregory Vekemans—chose to address compliance challenges in regulated sectors. “I don’t know what possessed us to leave sexy Tinder and go into compliance,” said Ruben.
With recent support from a €15m Series A led by Notion Capital, along with Redalpine and Fortino Capital, we’re expanding and refining our platform at pace.
This award is a reflection of our team’s hard work and the trust our clients place in us. We’re looking forward to helping more organisations navigate compliance confidently and securely. We’d like to thank ACA for fostering innovation and Luxembourg’s Digitalisation Minister Stéphanie Obertin for her support in advancing compliance technology.
